Hi! I'm Louie the Chimp! By Louie the
Chimp/Sierra Ski News
Me on the set of
my movie - MXP: Most Xtreme Primate.
Hi folks! I’m Louie. You may not be able to
guess it by looking at me, but I’m a movie star. I play a character
named Jack who gets into all kinds of exciting adventures (think of
that dog that played in the Air Bud movies - only cuter and more
intelligent - that’s me).
I’ve got my own series of movies - the most
recent of which is called MXP: Most Xtreme Primate. It’s set to be
released any day now so keep close watch for it.
In it, I play a chimp named Jack who learns how
to snowboard. That leads to all kinds of fun and exciting adventures
for me and my human friends.
Thanks to my owners Greg and Carol Lille, and
Sam Morishima, who helped teach me how to snowboard, I had great fun
making this movie. I found out snowboarding is more fun than swinging
from trees!
I have a lot of great memories from when we
were shooting the film up in Canada. One of my most memorable moments
was when I got to try out a new snowboard device that’s usually used
for teaching human snowboarders how to ride. It helped me a lot. My
body wasn’t designed with snowboarding in mind - I’m one of the
original "knuckle-draggers," after all.
It was a blast! Not only did it give me great
control over the board, but it sprayed snow everywhere - like a
rooster’s tail - six feet in the air.
So there I am, coming down a steep slope for
one of my best and longest rides ever. It was perfect! I’d cut a left
turn, then I’d go back onto a heal edge for a right turn then back on
toe edge before straightening out and then shooting down another steep
chute and coming to a heal edge falling leaf with a perfect stop at the
bottom. Whew! I get excited just thinking about it!!!
After I got done with the run, I looked around
to make sure everyone was watching. They were! I admit that I like to
showoff to humans who think they can ride better than me!
Then I jumped out of my boots which were still
attached to the board and made tracks in my wool socks to the warmup
tent. I skipped through the snow because it was really cold and wet.
Chimps like me don’t like the cold! It was nice and cozy in the tent
though. And best of all I had the humans trained to give me my favorite
gummy fruit candy when I did something spectacularly good on the snow.
After a short break, it was back to the top of
the mountain for some more runs. It was hilarious to see the way the
humans looked at me because I was smiling all the way down the hill.
They had no idea what I was thinking - but I
knew that I was TOP BANANA!!!
I’ll be going on tour soon to promote my new
movie - MXP: Most Xtreme Primate. In the meantime, if you’d like to see
some cool scenes of me snowboarding, check out the official movie site
