What is Sierra Ski News?
Sierra Ski News is a tabloid-sized newspaper published in the Sacramento, California area on a monthly basis November - March. The paper started as a newsletter called Sacramento Ski News in 1986, evolving into Sierra Ski News in 1997. During the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons it was included as a section in a local monthly newspaper. For the 1999-2000 ski season it was produced as a standalone publication.

What’s in SSN?
We cover downhill skiing, cross country skiing and snowboarding, as well as anything that relates to skiing and snowboarding - travel, equipment, clothing, accommodations, dining, injury  treatment, training, etc.

Who are the Publishers?
Skiers of course! Joe Blenkle has been a skier  since 1976  and a ski writer since 1983. He was sports, photo and entertainment editor of two weekly Sacramento-area newspapers for eight years and most recently was assistant editor of a monthly Sacramento-based general interest paper. Sharlene Blenkle has been a skier since 1985 and has contributed both writing, photography and production to SSN since it started as a newsletter in 1986.

Circulation
Sierra Ski News is distributed through ski shops, ski related businesses and other locations of interest in the Sacramento, Tahoe and San Francisco areas. Our current circulation is 5,000. As interest in the paper builds, so will our circulation.

Ad Formats
Our printer now takes our pages in digital format so all advertiser-submitted ads should be in high-quality .JPG, .TIF or .BMP format (at least 300dpi is preferred) so they can be inserted directly onto the page. Full page ads may be submitted in print quality .PDF format with a dimension of 10 3/16” wide x 16” high. PDFs are discouraged for anything smaller than full page ads as they will have to be converted back to one of the above mentioned formats on our end so we can insert them on the page. Ads may be sent on CD, disk or via email and should be in PC format.

Ad Rates - 2009/2010 season
Despite a slight increase last year, our rates are still the best deal around for a publication this size!!! Please Note: Any ad that previously had a height measurement of 8 inches has been reduced slightly for 2009-10 to 7.75 (7 3/4") inches. As our page height is 16 inches, it was impossible to stack two 8 inch high ads on top of each other and still have space between the ads and room for our page numbers and headers.

Color
After much consideration we have decided not to offer spot or full color in Sierra Ski News. The price from our printer is too restrictive for a publication our size.
